UT Mossman Science Lab

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Description:

The Mossman Science and Laboratory building is a $102 million state-of-the-art facility being constructed on the campus of the University of Tennessee. The six story, structural steel and concrete structure will provide classroom and laboratory space for microbiology, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, psychology and nutrition.  It also will have a vivarium for raising and observing animals for laboratory research.

GEOServices Services:

GEOServices provided Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Material Testing and Special Inspections for the design and construction of the facility. GEOServices explored subsurface soil and bedrock conditions and provided recommendations for foundation designs and construction. GEOServices provided soil, aggregate and concrete field and laboratory testing, observation and testing of compacted soil and aggregate, inspections of bearing conditions for shallow foundations and inspections of drilled shafts. Inspections were performed in accordance with project plans and specifications, and applicable building codes to verify the correct installation of structural features such as the reinforcement and structural steel.
